Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976), which rose 6.01% or 120.00 points to trade at 2,116.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6770) added 5.96% or 79.00 points to end at 1,405.00 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519) was up 5.03% or 316.00 points to 6,602.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aeon Co., Ltd. (TYO:8267), which fell 4.03% or 165.00 points to trade at 3,929.00 at the close. Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506) declined 3.18% or 91.50 points to end at 2,789.50 and Takashimaya Co., Ltd. (TYO:8233) was down 1.99% or 22.00 points to 1,083.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2818 to 872 and 176 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.10% to 27.84.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.13% or 0.08 to $61.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.17% or 0.11 to hit $64.65 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 1.04 to trade at $3,245.64 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.78% to 142.39, while EUR/JPY fell 0.25% to 162.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.87% at 99.02.
