Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Rubber and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nexon Co Ltd (TYO:3659), which rose 9.02% or 185.00 points to trade at 2,236.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Estate Co Ltd (TYO:8802) added 4.81% or 119.00 points to end at 2,593.00 and DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432) was up 3.71% or 130.00 points to 3,635.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which fell 3.41% or 273.00 points to trade at 7,732.00 at the close. Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) declined 2.51% or 125.00 points to end at 4,857.00 and Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702) was down 2.24% or 68.50 points to 2,990.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2091 to 1483 and 311 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.79% to 28.16 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.04% or 0.03 to $69.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $72.33 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 6.46 to trade at $3,050.46 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.07% to 150.55, while EUR/JPY fell 0.14% to 162.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 104.03.
