Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Non-Metal Minerals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were NTN Corp. (TYO:6472), which rose 11.68% or 25.00 points to trade at 239.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) added 7.33% or 51.00 points to end at 747.00 and NTT Data Corp. (TYO:9613) was up 6.34% or 120.00 points to 2,014.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:5714), which fell 13.06% or 665.00 points to trade at 4,425.00 at the close. Yamaha Motor Co Ltd (TYO:7272) declined 9.11% or 255.00 points to end at 2,545.00 and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4005) was down 8.93% or 51.00 points to 520.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2160 to 1427 and 187 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) rose to 3-years highs; rising 7.33% or 51.00 to 747.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 9.32% to 26.75.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.53% or 0.58 to $108.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.80% or 0.89 to hit $110.66 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 2.56 to trade at $1,805.64 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 129.24, while EUR/JPY rose 0.16% to 134.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 104.49.
