Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which rose 9.04% or 605.00 points to trade at 7,300.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) added 7.30% or 116.00 points to end at 1,704.00 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506) was up 6.79% or 205.00 points to 3,226.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432), which fell 16.39% or 595.00 points to trade at 3,035.00 at the close. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519) declined 11.13% or 915.00 points to end at 7,304.00 and Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568) was down 8.15% or 289.00 points to 3,258.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2424 to 1225 and 218 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 12.62% to 24.58 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.69% or 1.64 to $62.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.58% or 1.65 to hit $65.56 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 2.67% or 89.21 to trade at $3,254.79 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.91% to 146.69, while EUR/JPY rose 0.33% to 164.04.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.65% at 100.82.
