Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which rose 6.82% or 85.0 points to trade at 1331.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Omron Cor (T:6645) added 4.15% or 260.0 points to end at 6530.0 and Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) was up 4.01% or 99.0 points to 2568.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Marubeni Corp. (T:8002), which fell 7.73% or 39.0 points to trade at 465.7 at the close. ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) declined 6.74% or 153.0 points to end at 2117.0 and JTEKT Corp. (T:6473) was down 5.57% or 41.0 points to 695.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2156 to 1477 and 157 ended unchanged.
Shares in Marubeni Corp. (T:8002) fell to 3-years lows; down 7.73% or 39.0 to 465.7. Shares in ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) fell to 3-years lows; falling 6.74% or 153.0 to 2117.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 40.15.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.75% or 0.18 to $23.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.24% or 0.37 to hit $29.35 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 3.10 to trade at $1691.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 106.31, while EUR/JPY rose 0.29% to 114.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 100.093.
