Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 2.80% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.0000 points to trade at 15.0800 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) fell 0.40% or 0.050 points to end at 12.480 and Moncler SpA (MI:MONC) was down 1.00% or 0.18 points to 17.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UBI Banca (MI:UBI), which fell 6.80% or 0.2420 points to trade at 3.3180 at the close. Saipem (MI:SPMI) declined 6.72% or 0.0350 points to end at 0.4860 and Unipol Gruppo Finanziario Spa (MI:UNPI) was down 5.68% or 0.206 points to 3.422.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 273 to 64 and 12 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.77% or 0.41 to $52.76 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.47% or 0.26 to hit $55.44 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.57% or 6.75 to trade at $1197.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0689, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.8563.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 100.46.
