Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 0.17% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset (MI:MS), which rose 2.84% or 0.126 points to trade at 4.566 at the close. Meanwhile, UBI Banca (MI:UBI) added 1.96% or 0.0540 points to end at 2.8120 and FinecoBank Banca Fineco SpA (MI:FBK) was up 1.86% or 0.10 points to 5.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which fell 12.08% or 2.2400 points to trade at 16.3000 at the close. Saipem (MI:SPMI) declined 3.20% or 0.0163 points to end at 0.4937 and Italgas SpA (MI:IG) was down 2.39% or 0.09 points to 3.68.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 172 to 166 and 19 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.05% or 0.56 to $52.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.23% or 0.68 to hit $54.67 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1133.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.0434, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.8450.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 102.99.
