Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Technology and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher while losses in the Metals, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Trent Ltd (NSE:TREN), which rose 5.48% or 285.50 points to trade at 5,495.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE) added 3.92% or 11.95 points to end at 317.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NSE:TEML) was up 2.29% or 33.50 points to 1,495.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NSE:ULTC), which fell 2.24% or 271.00 points to trade at 11,843.00 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) declined 2.19% or 40.30 points to end at 1,801.30 and Coal India Ltd (NSE:COAL) was down 2.13% or 8.45 points to 388.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 2.26% to 1,399.40, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 2.14% to settle at 1,493.00 and Eternal Ltd (BO:ETEA) which gained 1.87% to close at 231.50.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 2.39% to 11,818.65 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.99% to settle at 1,805.15 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.44% to 304.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1310 to 1044 and 44 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2033 fell and 1745 advanced, while 127 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.89% to 17.43.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.80% or 26.89 to $3,320.81 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.58% or 0.98 to hit $61.07 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.61% or 1.04 to trade at $63.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 85.25, while EUR/INR fell 0.24% to 97.03.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 99.08.
