Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Banking and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher while losses in the Oil & Gas, Metals and IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which rose 1.75% or 5.55 points to trade at 323.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 1.69% or 14.15 points to end at 851.95 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was up 1.67% or 40.15 points to 2,444.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 2.84% or 9.40 points to trade at 321.95 at the close. Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) declined 2.31% or 497.75 points to end at 21,088.40 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 1.79% or 51.50 points to 2,825.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which rose 1.75% to 2,445.45, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 1.72% to settle at 323.00 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.49% to close at 1,940.05.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.19% to 2,529.80 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.19% to settle at 8,920.10 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.04% to 1,099.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1024 to 823 and 49 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1705 rose and 1586 declined, while 133 ended unchanged.
Shares in ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.75% or 5.55 to 323.15. Shares in ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.72% or 5.45 to 323.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.62% to 19.55.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.45% or 7.65 to $1,716.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.03% or 1.76 to hit $88.37 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.88% or 1.74 to trade at $94.10 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 79.84, while EUR/INR rose 0.76% to 79.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 109.29.
