Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.69%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which rose 1.69% or 2.85 points to trade at 171.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) added 1.56% or 4.85 points to end at 315.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 1.11% or 15.45 points to 1405.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which fell 3.63% or 3.30 points to trade at 87.60 at the close. TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) declined 3.51% or 17.30 points to end at 475.90 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 3.44% or 6.70 points to 188.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 1.20% to 279.35, POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (BO:PGRD) which was up 0.88% to settle at 195.40 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which gained 0.87% to close at 1474.80.
The worst performers were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 3.15% to 477.65 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 2.76% to settle at 1250.75 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 2.07% to 1043.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 908 to 596 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1594 fell and 1126 advanced, while 225 ended unchanged.
Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) rose to all time highs; up 1.11% or 15.45 to 1405.00. Shares in Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.87% or 12.75 to 1474.80.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.82% to 12.4350.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.71% or 8.85 to $1257.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.75% or 0.36 to hit $47.61 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.26 to trade at $50.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.50% to 65.067, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 70.7099.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 98.94.
