Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.51%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv), which rose 2.91% or 8.00 points to trade at 282.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO) added 2.64% or 11.85 points to end at 461.30 and Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA) was up 2.38% or 66.00 points to 2835.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 4.31% or 28.45 points to trade at 631.00 at the close. Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) declined 3.27% or 3.70 points to end at 109.55 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) was down 2.89% or 8.75 points to 293.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which rose 2.66% to 461.05, Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which was up 2.12% to settle at 2831.80 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which gained 1.37% to close at 3227.55.
The worst performers were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which was down 3.07% to 293.70 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 2.63% to settle at 676.05 and NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was down 2.50% to 156.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1151 to 364 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1894 fell and 908 advanced, while 146 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.57% to 13.3625.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.44% or 5.45 to $1244.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.78% or 0.42 to hit $53.41 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.41 to trade at $55.95 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 66.685, while EUR/INR fell 0.34% to 70.2866.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 101.92.
