Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NSE:TITN), which rose 4.15% or 139.80 points to trade at 3,509.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NSE:LART) added 3.79% or 126.10 points to end at 3,450.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (NSE:TAMO) was up 3.77% or 25.75 points to 708.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ICICI Bank Ltd (NSE:ICBK), which fell 3.24% or 46.50 points to trade at 1,389.00 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NSE:PGRD) declined 2.74% or 8.45 points to end at 299.80 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NSE:ULTC) was down 2.31% or 269.00 points to 11,362.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 4.25% to 3,506.45, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 4.02% to settle at 3,454.25 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which gained 3.86% to close at 708.25.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 3.09% to 1,389.65 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 2.61% to settle at 299.80 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 2.15% to 11,379.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1503 to 829 and 42 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2384 fell and 1318 advanced, while 150 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.55% to 21.54 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.66% or 21.84 to $3,327.84 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.95% or 1.17 to hit $61.08 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.81% or 1.14 to trade at $63.98 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.15% to 85.38, while EUR/INR fell 0.05% to 96.00.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 100.29.
