Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Technology and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.00%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 5.06% or 23.80 points to trade at 493.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) added 4.57% or 11.70 points to end at 267.60 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 1.75% or 9.55 points to 556.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 22.71% or 9.40 points to trade at 32.00 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 12.18% or 32.35 points to end at 233.15 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was down 6.18% or 85.50 points to 1298.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which rose 1.72% to 1248.50, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 1.71% to settle at 556.60 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 0.99% to close at 6783.75.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 22.80% to 32.00 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 6.30% to settle at 1294.60 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 5.50% to 256.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1075 to 454 and 98 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1721 fell and 648 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.06% or 23.80 to 493.90. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) fell to 5-year lows; down 22.71% or 9.40 to 32.00. Shares in Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) fell to 5-year lows; down 12.18% or 32.35 to 233.15. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) fell to 5-year lows; losing 22.80% or 9.45 to 32.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.58% to 16.7575.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.17% or 2.45 to $1475.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.11% or 0.60 to hit $54.67 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.66 to trade at $59.91 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.63% to 71.085, while EUR/INR rose 0.69% to 77.5150.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 99.080.
