Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Auto, Banking and Green Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.95%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 3.05% or 13.60 points to trade at 459.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) added 2.58% or 2.55 points to end at 101.40 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was up 2.25% or 4.85 points to 220.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which fell 3.01% or 116.55 points to trade at 3751.00 at the close. Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 2.97% or 22.10 points to end at 723.25 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was down 2.67% or 19.55 points to 711.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 2.28% to 220.00, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 0.79% to settle at 115.35 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 0.70% to close at 1481.50.
The worst performers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 2.98% to 3752.00 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 2.40% to settle at 7100.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 2.14% to 2135.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 988 to 673 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1585 fell and 1317 advanced, while 159 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.63% to 21.7075.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.22% or 21.05 to $1701.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.26% or 0.17 to hit $66.19 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.24 to trade at $69.87 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.00% to 72.689, while EUR/INR fell 0.53% to 86.6485.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 91.875.
