Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.86%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.74%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NSE:SBIL), which rose 5.15% or 82.80 points to trade at 1,691.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NSE:TEML) added 1.02% or 14.80 points to end at 1,460.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NSE:TCS) was up 0.95% or 32.40 points to 3,434.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NSE:SHMF), which fell 8.03% or 55.95 points to trade at 640.70 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NSE:ADEL) declined 3.95% or 96.50 points to end at 2,346.00 and Trent Ltd (NSE:TREN) was down 3.75% or 199.50 points to 5,124.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 0.87% to 3,431.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 0.64% to settle at 1,480.75 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 0.50% to close at 1,453.40.
The worst performers were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 3.78% to 1,190.00 in late trade, Eternal Ltd (BO:ETEA) which lost 3.60% to settle at 227.90 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.40% to 1,166.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 2112 to 283 and 18 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 3128 fell and 682 advanced, while 119 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.08% to 17.24.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.03% or 34.56 to $3,314.04 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.83% or 0.52 to hit $62.27 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.55 to trade at $66.00 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 85.39, while EUR/INR fell 0.26% to 96.94.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 99.46.
