Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Banking and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.44%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 1.49% or 5.85 points to trade at 398.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) added 1.22% or 100.80 points to end at 8,353.20 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) was up 1.19% or 224.75 points to 19,044.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which fell 1.69% or 8.80 points to trade at 512.75 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 1.55% or 61.00 points to end at 3,862.95 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 1.50% or 16.20 points to 1,065.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which rose 1.25% to 19,050.35, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 1.07% to settle at 8,339.65 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 0.99% to close at 762.55.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.69% to 512.70 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.49% to settle at 2,797.40 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.49% to 1,679.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1200 to 715 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1959 fell and 1419 advanced, while 126 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.14% to 14.49.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.68% or 32.85 to $1,982.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.92% or 0.65 to hit $70.25 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.69% or 0.53 to trade at $76.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.29% to 82.26, while EUR/INR fell 0.11% to 89.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 102.01.
