Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Auto and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.35%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NSE:PGRD), which rose 4.60% or 13.20 points to trade at 299.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) added 3.52% or 60.35 points to end at 1,774.00 and Cipla Ltd. (NSE:CIPL) was up 3.28% or 47.65 points to 1,500.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NSE:TCS), which fell 3.98% or 140.95 points to trade at 3,403.00 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NSE:HCLT) declined 3.87% or 59.15 points to end at 1,468.40 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NSE:TEML) was down 3.73% or 53.05 points to 1,370.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 4.57% to 299.80, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 3.33% to settle at 1,771.30 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 2.92% to close at 11,583.65.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 4.02% to 3,402.50 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 3.96% to settle at 1,467.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 3.84% to 1,369.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1790 to 613 and 23 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2739 rose and 1099 declined, while 132 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.22% to 13.56.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.35% or 42.59 to $3,123.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 4.76% or 3.41 to hit $68.30 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 4.50% or 3.37 to trade at $71.58 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.33% to 85.17, while EUR/INR rose 1.86% to 94.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.93% at 101.50.
