Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Public Sector Undertakings and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 5.98% or 25.70 points to trade at 455.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) added 3.06% or 135.30 points to end at 4,556.70 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 2.41% or 10.20 points to 433.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 3.87% or 175.80 points to trade at 4,363.65 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 2.57% or 9.15 points to end at 347.20 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was down 2.49% or 6.30 points to 246.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which rose 1.27% to 1,922.70, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 1.07% to settle at 108.65 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.04% to close at 1,151.60.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 3.94% to 4,365.75 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 2.57% to settle at 347.25 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.83% to 2,457.65 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1061 to 844 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1852 fell and 1653 advanced, while 146 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.51% to 14.91.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.68% or 12.05 to $1,757.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.92% or 0.82 to hit $88.14 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.73 to trade at $95.26 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.98% to 81.26, while EUR/INR rose 0.38% to 83.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.84% at 107.06.
