India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.69%

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Metals and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.69%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.74%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 4.51% or 29.15 points to trade at 675.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) added 2.49% or 8.45 points to end at 347.60 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 1.21% or 29.00 points to 2429.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which fell 3.57% or 6.25 points to trade at 168.65 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 3.05% or 20.95 points to end at 665.95 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) was down 2.41% or 8.60 points to 347.15.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 1.14% to 2427.10, Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which was up 1.01% to settle at 2829.40 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 0.83% to close at 344.50.

The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.04% to 665.65 in late trade, Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which lost 2.61% to settle at 1410.35 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which was down 2.37% to 347.55 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 964 to 600 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1602 fell and 1216 advanced, while 119 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.57% to 11.6925.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.04% or 13.05 to $1266.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.12% or 0.58 to hit $52.28 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.51 to trade at $55.40 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.51% to 64.280, while EUR/INR fell 0.73% to 68.2712.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 100.72.
