Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.96%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which rose 4.18% or 30.15 points to trade at 752.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) added 3.78% or 5.45 points to end at 149.40 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 3.55% or 7.15 points to 208.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 2.77% or 80.60 points to trade at 2821.50 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 1.97% or 8.65 points to end at 427.80 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was down 1.60% or 4.55 points to 279.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 4.21% to 752.00, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 3.75% to settle at 149.35 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 3.39% to close at 332.70.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.46% to 427.50 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 1.38% to settle at 1691.95 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 0.88% to 3232.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1041 to 514 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1472 rose and 941 declined, while 159 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.36% to 13.3000 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.19% or 2.85 to $1475.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.30% or 0.77 to hit $59.95 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 1.02 to trade at $65.22 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.29% to 70.765, while EUR/INR rose 0.75% to 79.1085.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 96.838.
