Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.84% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which rose 5.53% or 67.35 points to trade at 1286.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) added 3.52% or 10.85 points to end at 318.75 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) was up 2.38% or 28.80 points to 1239.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 6.32% or 26.05 points to trade at 386.60 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 5.33% or 26.50 points to end at 472.05 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was down 1.55% or 15.10 points to 956.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 6.17% to 1289.60, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 2.17% to settle at 606.65 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.69% to close at 1387.05.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 6.44% to 385.70 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 5.05% to settle at 471.85 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 1.69% to 194.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 976 to 628 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1512 fell and 1078 advanced, while 129 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.10% to 13.9775.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.20% or 2.60 to $1324.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $71.47 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.06 to trade at $77.41 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.25% to 67.275, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 80.3484.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 92.35.
