Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Auto and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.67% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NSE:HCLT), which rose 7.73% or 114.40 points to trade at 1,594.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NSE:TEML) added 4.76% or 65.50 points to end at 1,442.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (NSE:TAMO) was up 4.40% or 27.75 points to 658.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NSE:KTKM), which fell 2.09% or 47.40 points to trade at 2,221.40 at the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NSE:HDBK) declined 2.06% or 40.40 points to end at 1,921.30 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NSE:GRAS) was down 1.98% or 54.40 points to 2,695.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 7.66% to 1,593.45, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 4.87% to settle at 1,442.65 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which gained 4.43% to close at 658.90.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 2.07% to 2,220.55 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 2.00% to settle at 1,922.75 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.05% to 813.85 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1232 to 1138 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1973 rose and 1828 declined, while 151 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.24% to 16.03.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 2.28% or 77.81 to $3,341.59 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.13% or 0.72 to hit $64.39 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.71 to trade at $68.15 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.21% to 85.35, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 97.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 98.96.
