Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.54%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART), which rose 4.74% or 76.35 points to trade at 1,687.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 2.94% or 6.25 points to end at 218.80 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 2.48% or 10.70 points to 441.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which fell 1.67% or 9.25 points to trade at 545.35 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 1.62% or 2.00 points to end at 121.50 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was down 1.57% or 14.10 points to 885.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 4.72% to 1,687.40, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.94% to settle at 218.80 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 2.21% to close at 143.50.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.62% to 885.75 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 1.47% to settle at 848.45 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.43% to 8,475.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 977 to 822 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1816 rose and 1343 declined, while 160 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.21% to 18.40 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.05% or 0.95 to $1,740.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.18% or 0.19 to hit $102.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.34 to trade at $104.99 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 79.24, while EUR/INR rose 0.01% to 80.42.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 107.00.
