Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.54%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 3.15% or 19.55 points to trade at 638.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 2.43% or 7.95 points to end at 335.50 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 3.00% or 172.10 points to 5880.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 3.84% or 118.00 points to trade at 2958.15 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 3.81% or 19.45 points to end at 493.85 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was down 3.03% or 5.70 points to 182.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.53% to 637.00, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 2.29% to settle at 1888.35 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 1.61% to close at 1127.50.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.34% to 493.60 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 3.12% to settle at 2966.60 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 2.55% to 183.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 834 to 738 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1286 fell and 1191 advanced, while 164 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 10.23% to 18.3150.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.16% or 2.00 to $1230.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $51.73 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.21 to trade at $60.77 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 70.831, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 80.1440.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 97.113.
