Investing.com -- Among the 4 biggest recent dividend hikes and special dividends, Wendy's hiked its payout by 100%, while also announcing it would repurchase up to a half-billion dollars in shares. Get this news first by signing up for InvestingPro.

Wendy's (NASDAQ:WEN) shares gained nearly 6% on Friday after the company hiked its quarterly dividend by 100% to $0.25 per share, or $1 annualized, for an annual yield of 4.6%. The dividend will be payable on March 15, 2023, to stockholders of record on March 1, 2023, with an ex-dividend date of February 28, 2023. The company also announced a new share repurchase program of $500 million and reported strong preliminary Q4 and FY22 results.

Opera Limited (NASDAQ:OPRA) shares soared more than 13% on Thursday after the company declared a special dividend of $0.80 per share for a yield of 12.9%. The dividend will be payable on February 9, 2023, to stockholders of record on January 20, 2023, with an ex-dividend date of January 19, 2023.

Apogee (NASDAQ:APOG) Enterprises hiked its quarterly dividend by 9.1% to $0.24 per share, or $0.96 annualized. The dividend will be payable on February 15, 2023, to stockholders of record on January 31, 2023, with an ex-dividend date of January 30, 2023. The annual yield on the dividend is 2.1%.

Royalty Pharma Plc (NASDAQ:RPRX) hiked its quarterly dividend by 5.3% to $0.20 per share, or $0.8 annualized. The dividend will be payable on March 15, 2023, to stockholders of record on February 16, 2023, with an ex-dividend date of February 15, 2023. The annual yield on the dividend is 2.1%.
