Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Basic Resources and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 2.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr), which rose 12.50% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Select Textile (AT:EPIr) added 10.00% or 0.014 points to end at 0.154 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 9.50% or 0.019 points to 0.219 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which fell 4.03% or 0.0320 points to trade at 0.7620 at the close. Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR) declined 3.09% or 0.160 points to end at 5.020 and FHL I Kiriakidis Marbles and Granites SA (AT:KRKr) was down 2.76% or 0.090 points to 3.170.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 64 to 43 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 1.16% or 14.05 to $1196.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $53.12 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.17 to trade at $55.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.0738, while EUR/GBP fell 0.60% to 0.8519.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 100.08.
