Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 1.17% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Metlen Energy & Metals AE (AT:MYTr), which rose 4.86% or 1.94 points to trade at 41.86 at the close. Meanwhile, AS Company SA (AT:ASCr) added 4.01% or 0.14 points to end at 3.63 and Hellenic Exchanges Athens Stock Exchange SA (AT:EXCr) was up 3.41% or 0.19 points to 5.77 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Crete Plastics SA (AT:PLAKR), which fell 2.67% or 0.40 points to trade at 14.60 at the close. Intracom Holdings SA (AT:INRr) declined 2.09% or 0.07 points to end at 3.28 and Interlife General Insurance Company SA (AT:INLIFr) was down 1.93% or 0.10 points to 5.08.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 72 to 49 and 25 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.11% or 3.46 to $3,050.84 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.67% or 1.15 to hit $70.15 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.44% or 1.04 to trade at $73.43 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 104.05.
