Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Software, Industrials and Construction sectors led shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.12% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index declined 0.12%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were SAP SE (DE:SAPG), which rose 1.17% or 0.970 points to trade at 83.660 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 1.13% or 0.205 points to end at 18.320 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 1.10% or 2.050 points to 188.300 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which fell 3.13% or 0.400 points to trade at 12.395 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 1.54% or 0.185 points to end at 11.800 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was down 0.83% or 0.850 points to 102.150.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 1.96% to 36.090, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 1.59% to settle at 37.35 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which gained 1.28% to close at 38.000.
The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 1.73% to 38.150 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which lost 1.72% to settle at 27.635 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 1.25% to 22.555 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which rose 2.26% to 38.470, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 1.75% to settle at 44.480 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 1.29% to close at 16.500.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 2.63% to 25.400 in late trade, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which lost 1.76% to settle at 41.875 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 1.67% to 47.200 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 372 to 347 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in SAP SE (DE:SAPG) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.17% or 0.970 to 83.660.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.20% to 15.13.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.67% or 7.90 to $1173.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.63% or 0.34 to hit $54.10 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.28 to trade at $57.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.0549, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8568.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 102.04.
