Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Utilities sectors led shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Construction and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.05%, while the MDAX index gained 0.61%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.28% or 0.395 points to trade at 12.450 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 2.91% or 0.355 points to end at 12.550 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 2.69% or 0.84 points to 32.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 2.05% or 0.375 points to trade at 17.935 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 1.70% or 0.134 points to end at 7.736 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was down 1.63% or 1.450 points to 87.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which rose 3.85% to 40.165, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was up 2.66% to settle at 11.400 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which gained 2.48% to close at 30.735.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 2.09% to 36.130 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 1.81% to settle at 22.525 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 1.43% to 36.810 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which rose 8.33% to 0.039, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was up 5.61% to settle at 19.115 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which gained 2.13% to close at 9.000.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 2.03% to 48.300 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 1.57% to settle at 6.830 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 0.95% to 19.350 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 409 to 344 and 27 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 5.61% or 1.015 to 19.115.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.16% to 16.59.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.67% or 8.25 to $1244.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.42% or 0.22 to hit $52.39 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.25 to trade at $55.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.0705, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8537.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 100.09.
