Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Food & Beverages and Utilities sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Insurance and Media sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.36%, while the MDAX index lost 0.07%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which rose 3.61% or 0.76 points to trade at 21.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) added 2.88% or 0.58 points to end at 20.69 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was up 2.39% or 3.80 points to 162.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which fell 3.37% or 0.27 points to trade at 7.85 at the close. Allianz SE VNA O.N. (ETR:ALVG) declined 1.84% or 3.02 points to end at 160.72 and Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) was down 1.34% or 0.32 points to 23.50.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which rose 4.77% to 7.80, Deutsche Wohnen AG (ETR:DWNG) which was up 4.62% to settle at 18.92 and ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which gained 4.12% to close at 20.20.
The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was down 11.26% to 4.57 in late trade, Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which lost 8.08% to settle at 32.76 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) which was down 3.71% to 7.28 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 20.16% to 22.23, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was up 4.12% to settle at 20.20 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which gained 3.33% to close at 60.50.
The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 8.08% to 32.76 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 2.27% to settle at 8.60 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 1.94% to 8.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 390 to 306 and 59 ended unchanged.
Shares in Allianz SE VNA O.N. (ETR:ALVG) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.84% or 3.02 to 160.72. Shares in Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) fell to 52-week lows; down 11.26% or 0.58 to 4.57. The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.79% to 31.27.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.03% or 33.15 to $1,669.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.06% or 3.19 to hit $81.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.36% or 2.85 to trade at $87.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.38% to 0.97, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.15% at 112.74.
