Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Chemicals sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Financial Services and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.14%, while the MDAX index declined 0.57%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which rose 2.21% or 0.74 points to trade at 34.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) added 2.02% or 0.76 points to end at 38.32 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) was up 1.80% or 1.22 points to 69.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which fell 4.61% or 0.86 points to trade at 17.71 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) declined 2.24% or 0.22 points to end at 9.80 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) was down 2.09% or 0.21 points to 9.64.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which rose 3.91% to 31.64, Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was up 3.08% to settle at 90.30 and Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which gained 2.24% to close at 64.00.
The worst performers were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 9.99% to 1.66 in late trade, K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which lost 5.52% to settle at 19.17 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which was down 3.92% to 50.54 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 2.38% to 75.15, Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which was up 1.35% to settle at 51.00 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which gained 1.34% to close at 35.08.
The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 7.09% to 46.10 in late trade, Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which lost 4.67% to settle at 16.13 and ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was down 3.72% to 14.25 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 355 to 313 and 81 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.61% or 0.86 to 17.71. Shares in Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) fell to all time lows; down 9.99% or 0.18 to 1.66. Shares in LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.92% or 2.06 to 50.54.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.60% to 21.57.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.81% or 15.70 to $1,956.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.28% or 0.89 to hit $70.56 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 0.99 to trade at $76.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.66% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 102.30.
