Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Consumer & Cyclical and Telecoms sectors led shares higher while losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Chemicals and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.41%, while the MDAX index declined 0.19%, and the TecDAX index added 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 4.47% or 0.456 points to trade at 10.661 at the close. Meanwhile, Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) added 2.49% or 6.00 points to end at 246.95 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was up 1.65% or 4.75 points to 292.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which fell 5.58% or 3.07 points to trade at 51.93 at the close. Linde PLC (DE:LINI) declined 3.30% or 7.000 points to end at 205.100 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) was down 2.03% or 4.20 points to 202.90.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 15.56% to 19.750, Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which was up 4.26% to settle at 88.76 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which gained 3.40% to close at 5.625.

The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 3.80% to 18.047 in late trade, Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which lost 3.46% to settle at 99.13 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 3.30% to 2.196 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 15.56% to 19.750, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 2.51% to settle at 32.290 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) which gained 1.76% to close at 15.030.

The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 3.80% to 18.047 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 3.30% to settle at 2.196 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was down 2.56% to 26.650 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 367 to 314 and 34 ended unchanged.

Shares in Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.47% or 0.456 to 10.661. Shares in Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 15.56% or 2.660 to 19.750. Shares in Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 15.56% or 2.660 to 19.750.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.37% to 22.94.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.25% or 22.40 to $1775.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $63.24 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.24% or 0.16 to trade at $66.02 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.2226, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.8652.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 89.823.
