Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher while losses in the Chemicals, Basic Resources and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.23%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.35%, and the TecDAX index added 0.06%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 3.61% or 2.260 points to trade at 64.860 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 2.05% or 1.35 points to end at 67.28 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) was up 1.90% or 4.50 points to 241.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 7.62% or 0.550 points to trade at 6.665 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 4.02% or 5.08 points to end at 121.28 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) was down 3.12% or 1.400 points to 43.440.

The top performers on the MDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 4.21% to 99.1000, Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which was up 3.26% to settle at 129.90 and Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which gained 2.26% to close at 67.75.

The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.45% to 11.160 in late trade, Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which lost 3.46% to settle at 83.70 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was down 3.42% to 5.423 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which rose 5.44% to 15.88, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 4.21% to settle at 99.100 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 2.03% to close at 98.050.

The worst performers were United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 2.60% to 27.400 in late trade, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which lost 2.27% to settle at 19.39 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 1.70% to 8.4580 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 356 to 308 and 95 ended unchanged.

Shares in SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.44% or 0.82 to 15.88.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.35% to 14.23.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.15% or 2.25 to $1492.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.24% or 0.69 to hit $54.85 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.26% or 1.39 to trade at $60.20 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1108, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8642.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 97.583.
