Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Software sectors led shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Transportation & Logistics and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.09%, while the MDAX index fell 0.29%, and the TecDAX index added 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 6.24% or 1.715 points to trade at 29.215 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 2.23% or 0.211 points to end at 9.670 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 2.09% or 3.80 points to 185.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which fell 2.13% or 0.345 points to trade at 15.815 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 2.05% or 1.340 points to end at 64.060 and Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) was down 2.03% or 2.40 points to 116.00.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which rose 6.22% to 32.270, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 3.47% to settle at 50.950 and Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which gained 2.47% to close at 31.500.
The worst performers were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 2.81% to 48.46 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 2.47% to settle at 45.50 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 2.30% to 11.870 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which rose 3.47% to 50.950, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 3.34% to settle at 23.540 and Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which gained 2.47% to close at 31.500.
The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which was down 2.08% to 25.460 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 1.89% to settle at 91.180 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.43% to 117.500 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 353 to 325 and 73 ended unchanged.
Shares in RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 6.24% or 1.715 to 29.215. Shares in Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.09% or 3.80 to 185.52.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.31% to 13.43.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.34% or 5.35 to $1559.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.55% or 0.33 to hit $59.23 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.15 to trade at $65.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1121, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.8515.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 97.072.
