Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Software and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.98%, while the MDAX index fell 1.03%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.69%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 1.70% or 2.25 points to trade at 134.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) added 1.41% or 2.40 points to end at 172.40 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 0.78% or 0.660 points to 85.100 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which fell 4.83% or 0.985 points to trade at 19.400 at the close. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) declined 3.58% or 3.440 points to end at 92.560 and Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) was down 2.43% or 3.15 points to 126.25.
The top performers on the MDAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which rose 4.03% to 24.260, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 0.83% to settle at 4.59 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which gained 0.57% to close at 15.07.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 4.14% to 42.98 in late trade, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which lost 3.67% to settle at 47.040 and Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was down 3.34% to 68.200 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 0.42% to 130.80, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 0.06% to settle at 53.320 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 0.09% to close at 4.404.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 7.76% to 5.550 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 6.74% to settle at 40.465 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 6.61% to 11.510 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 527 to 211 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.42% or 0.55 to 130.80.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.40% to 13.46.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.26 to $1268.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.87% or 0.40 to hit $46.23 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.34 to trade at $48.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1201, while EUR/GBP rose 0.87% to 0.8854.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 97.23.
