Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Construction and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.90%, while the MDAX index lost 0.97%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.05%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 4.42% or 5.80 points to trade at 136.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) added 0.55% or 0.470 points to end at 85.290 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 0.04% or 0.030 points to 80.020 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which fell 2.77% or 0.605 points to trade at 21.275 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 2.21% or 2.35 points to end at 104.20 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was down 2.18% or 1.8900 points to 84.7400.
The top performers on the MDAX were Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which rose 1.29% to 15.750, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was up 0.81% to settle at 11.895 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which gained 0.62% to close at 13.040.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 3.57% to 30.145 in late trade, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which lost 3.42% to settle at 72.810 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 3.14% to 58.55 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 2.32% to 24.305, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was up 0.56% to settle at 17.940 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 0.23% to close at 41.805.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.30% to 40.475 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 3.25% to settle at 61.990 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 3.24% to 51.000 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 529 to 229 and 33 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.93% to 22.47 a new 3-months high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1291.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.66% or 0.35 to hit $52.30 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.03% or 0.57 to trade at $54.79 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.0698, while EUR/GBP fell 0.99% to 0.8385.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 99.69.
