Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 4.15%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials, Insurance and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 4.15% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index lost 3.32%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.25%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG), which rose 5.35% or 4.19 points to trade at 82.49 at the close. Meanwhile, HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) added 5.07% or 4.60 points to end at 95.26 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) was up 4.17% or 23.200 points to 580.000 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG), which fell 11.55% or 12.97 points to trade at 99.29 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) declined 10.51% or 19.73 points to end at 168.05 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was down 7.02% or 17.77 points to 235.33.

The top performers on the MDAX were Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which rose 9.44% to 38.020, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was up 3.35% to settle at 12.35 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COP1n) which gained 1.57% to close at 68.100.

The worst performers were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which was down 12.34% to 5.447 in late trade, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which lost 11.10% to settle at 54.000 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 8.71% to 9.736 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which rose 9.44% to 38.020, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 4.17% to settle at 580.000 and TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which gained 3.35% to close at 12.35.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 6.85% to 35.360 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 5.08% to settle at 15.710 and 11 AG (DE:1U1) which was down 4.72% to 25.020 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 656 to 82 and 35 ended unchanged.

Shares in MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.51% or 19.73 to 168.05. Shares in Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 12.34% or 0.767 to 5.447.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 54.60% to 29.08 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.10% or 1.70 to $1786.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 11.76% or 9.22 to hit $69.17 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 10.19% or 8.38 to trade at $73.84 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.81% to 1.1297, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.8479.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.73% at 96.165.
