Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Technology and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 3.27% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index declined 3.56%, and the TecDAX index fell 2.37%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA), which rose 0.81% or 0.35 points to trade at 43.34 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) added 0.48% or 0.05 points to end at 10.38 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) was up 0.21% or 0.05 points to 21.67 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which fell 9.25% or 0.98 points to trade at 9.60 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) declined 8.71% or 0.90 points to end at 9.49 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was down 6.92% or 1.36 points to 18.23.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which rose 0.44% to 6.88, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was up 0.35% to settle at 14.40 and Vantage Towers AG (ETR:VTWRn) which gained 0.29% to close at 34.10.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 11.30% to 13.19 in late trade, Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which lost 11.30% to settle at 34.85 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was down 8.42% to 6.26 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which rose 0.81% to 43.34, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was up 0.35% to settle at 14.40 and Vantage Towers AG (ETR:VTWRn) which gained 0.29% to close at 34.10.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 11.30% to 13.19 in late trade, Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which lost 6.54% to settle at 17.43 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 6.04% to 77.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 553 to 146 and 60 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) rose to all time highs; up 0.21% or 0.05 to 21.67.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 35.91% to 28.88 a new 3-months high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.00% or 19.15 to $1,930.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 6.00% or 4.28 to hit $67.05 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 5.56% or 4.31 to trade at $73.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.66% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP fell 0.74% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.24% at 104.50.
