Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Transportation & Logistics, Retail and Media sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.97% to hit a new 52-week low, while the MDAX index lost 3.12%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.72%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G), which rose 2.27% or 2.25 points to trade at 101.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) added 1.38% or 4.90 points to end at 358.90 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was up 0.17% or 0.07 points to 42.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG), which fell 9.02% or 4.81 points to trade at 48.51 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) declined 4.89% or 7.20 points to end at 140.16 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was down 4.54% or 0.55 points to 11.45.
The top performers on the MDAX were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which rose 3.50% to 21.32, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was up 2.94% to settle at 20.16 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 0.95% to close at 36.07.
The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 34.18% to 38.61 in late trade, CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which lost 7.85% to settle at 43.90 and K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 7.85% to 19.37 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 1.38% to 358.90, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was up 0.95% to settle at 36.07 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which gained 0.17% to close at 42.48.
The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 34.18% to 38.61 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which lost 6.25% to settle at 8.07 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 6.24% to 20.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 614 to 95 and 50 ended unchanged.
Shares in Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 9.02% or 4.81 to 48.51. Shares in Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) fell to all time lows; falling 4.54% or 0.55 to 11.45. Shares in Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) fell to 3-years lows; losing 34.18% or 20.05 to 38.61. Shares in CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.85% or 3.74 to 43.90. Shares in Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) fell to 3-years lows; falling 34.18% or 20.05 to 38.61. Shares in TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) fell to all time lows; falling 6.25% or 0.54 to 8.07.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.57% to 30.82 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.60% or 26.95 to $1,654.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 5.45% or 4.55 to hit $78.94 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 4.72% or 4.27 to trade at $86.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.27% to 0.97, while EUR/GBP rose 2.00% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.30% at 112.54.
