Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.80%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer & Cyclical and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.80% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index declined 2.29%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.87%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Linde PLC (DE:LINI), which rose 2.54% or 4.250 points to trade at 171.550 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) added 0.10% or 0.015 points to end at 14.530 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was down 0.35% or 0.032 points to 9.152 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which fell 4.15% or 11.60 points to trade at 267.80 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 3.74% or 2.17 points to end at 55.83 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was down 3.31% or 0.540 points to 15.788.

The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which rose 0.50% to 69.800, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was up 0.40% to settle at 63.300 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which gained 0.21% to close at 11.7900.

The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 6.66% to 63.880 in late trade, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which lost 6.34% to settle at 11.525 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 6.01% to 45.980 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which rose 0.48% to 12.46, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 121.80 and New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which lost 0.31% to close at 325.00.

The worst performers were Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which was down 8.25% to 35.14 in late trade, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which lost 6.80% to settle at 18.92 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 6.66% to 63.880 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 580 to 121 and 52 ended unchanged.

Shares in Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.40% or 0.250 to 63.300. Shares in Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) fell to 5-year lows; down 6.34% or 0.780 to 11.525.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 14.92% to 21.26 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.25% or 18.15 to $1475.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.22% or 0.68 to hit $54.98 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.02% or 1.87 to trade at $60.02 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.91% to 1.1208, while EUR/GBP rose 0.96% to 0.9223.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 97.252.
