Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Transportation & Logistics, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.32%, while the MDAX index declined 0.88%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which rose 0.69% or 0.100 points to trade at 14.680 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 0.57% or 0.051 points to end at 8.970 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 0.02% or 0.02 points to 117.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which fell 3.92% or 1.200 points to trade at 29.445 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 3.42% or 2.21 points to end at 62.48 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was down 3.08% or 1.900 points to 59.800.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 2.08% to 71.300, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was up 1.52% to settle at 15.980 and Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which gained 1.51% to close at 25.590.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.49% to 11.055 in late trade, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which lost 3.48% to settle at 5.137 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 3.13% to 19.780 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 3.50% to 10.350, Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which was up 1.51% to settle at 25.590 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 1.49% to close at 70.740.
The worst performers were Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which was down 3.32% to 37.24 in late trade, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which lost 3.23% to settle at 17.66 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 3.13% to 19.780 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 501 to 189 and 65 ended unchanged.
Shares in Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.52% or 0.240 to 15.980.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.21% to 17.24.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.15% or 16.95 to $1489.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.26% or 0.68 to hit $53.39 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.93% or 0.55 to trade at $58.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.0936, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8887.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 98.770.
