Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Construction and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.57%, while the MDAX index fell 1.02%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which rose 2.74% or 1.09 points to trade at 40.85 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) added 2.01% or 0.29 points to end at 14.99 and Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) was up 1.80% or 3.35 points to 189.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which fell 10.39% or 2.57 points to trade at 22.17 at the close. Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) declined 2.62% or 1.01 points to end at 37.48 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was down 2.11% or 0.68 points to 31.52.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 2.85% to 2.67, Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which was up 2.74% to settle at 104.90 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 1.35% to close at 39.04.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (ETR:TUI1n) which was down 10.94% to 6.77 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 6.07% to settle at 61.90 and Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was down 5.56% to 33.66 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which rose 6.93% to 62.45, IONOS Group SE (ETR:IOSn) which was up 3.35% to settle at 35.45 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 1.35% to close at 39.04.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 6.07% to 61.90 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which lost 5.56% to settle at 33.66 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 4.59% to 7.06 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 369 to 256 and 25 ended unchanged.
Shares in Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) rose to all time highs; rising 1.80% or 3.35 to 189.95. Shares in Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 6.93% or 4.05 to 62.45.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.62% to 17.77 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.91% or 61.96 to $3,185.84 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.42% or 0.27 to hit $63.40 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.33 to trade at $66.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 100.61.
