Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.40%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Utilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.40%, while the MDAX index fell 0.80%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.84%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.60% or 2.90 points to trade at 183.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 0.80% or 0.72 points to end at 90.51 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.73% or 0.28 points to 39.43 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which fell 2.66% or 0.600 points to trade at 21.925 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 1.56% or 0.160 points to end at 10.095 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was down 1.33% or 2.60 points to 192.80.

The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which rose 2.60% to 36.535, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was up 1.53% to settle at 60.900 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which gained 1.23% to close at 88.000.

The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 5.37% to 36.465 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 3.86% to settle at 3.24 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 3.19% to 20.615 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 8.13% to 51.860, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was up 4.74% to settle at 30.920 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 4.39% to close at 7.700.

The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 12.06% to 78.260 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 12.02% to settle at 13.725 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 4.75% to 13.935 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 501 to 266 and 22 ended unchanged.

Shares in Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) rose to all time highs; rising 0.73% or 0.28 to 39.43. Shares in Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) fell to all time lows; losing 3.86% or 0.13 to 3.24.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.04% to 14.05.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 4.19 to $1278.39 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $56.81 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.26 to trade at $63.26 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1657, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.8900.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 94.48.
