Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Retail, Technology and Insurance sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.36%, while the MDAX index gained 1.62%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.13%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER), which rose 9.11% or 2.90 points to trade at 34.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) added 3.55% or 1.45 points to end at 42.28 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) was up 3.43% or 2.42 points to 73.04 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG), which fell 6.55% or 3.26 points to trade at 46.50 at the close. Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn) declined 0.22% or 0.24 points to end at 108.98 and Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) was down 0.11% or 0.07 points to 63.54.

The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which rose 15.75% to 73.50, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (ETR:FPE3_p) which was up 5.15% to settle at 25.72 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which gained 4.52% to close at 24.30.

The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was down 4.16% to 12.22 in late trade, Grand City Properties SA (ETR:GYC) which lost 3.50% to settle at 13.80 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 2.58% to 3.52 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 4.83% to 18.46, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 4.52% to settle at 24.30 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which gained 4.39% to close at 46.14.

The worst performers were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which was down 6.55% to 46.50 in late trade, Vantage Towers AG (ETR:VTWRn) which lost 0.94% to settle at 27.54 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 0.58% to 112.10 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 478 to 204 and 82 ended unchanged.

Shares in Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.55% or 3.26 to 46.50. Shares in Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 0.22% or 0.24 to 108.98. Shares in Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.16% or 0.53 to 12.22. Shares in Grand City Properties SA (ETR:GYC) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.50% or 0.50 to 13.80. Shares in Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) fell to all time lows; down 2.58% or 0.09 to 3.52. Shares in Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.55% or 3.26 to 46.50.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.66% to 28.46.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.35% or 6.40 to $1,819.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.20% or 2.62 to hit $116.31 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.51% or 1.83 to trade at $119.34 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 105.29.
