Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.85%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Financial Services, Technology and Retail sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.85%, while the MDAX index added 1.30%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.87%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 5.42% or 2.33 points to trade at 45.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) added 4.53% or 5.800 points to end at 133.750 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 2.17% or 0.334 points to 15.748 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which fell 1.13% or 0.505 points to trade at 44.160 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 0.44% or 0.30 points to end at 67.34 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was down 0.32% or 0.70 points to 217.90.

The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) which rose 9.62% to 32.260, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 6.51% to settle at 11.450 and Grand City Properties SA (DE:GYC) which gained 5.51% to close at 20.88.

The worst performers were Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which was down 1.44% to 14.0800 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 1.27% to settle at 24.960 and RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which was down 1.17% to 42.380 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which rose 8.22% to 32.90, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which was up 3.20% to settle at 19.04 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 2.67% to close at 53.900.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.22% to 8.9760 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 2.18% to settle at 9.185 and New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which was down 1.48% to 266.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 465 to 214 and 76 ended unchanged.

Shares in Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) rose to 5-year highs; rising 4.53% or 5.800 to 133.750. Shares in Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) rose to all time highs; up 2.67% or 1.400 to 53.900.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.67% to 17.90.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 5.60 to $1531.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.66% or 1.51 to hit $55.20 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.25% or 1.36 to trade at $59.13 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.0978, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.9025.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 98.852.
