Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.91%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which rose 1.81% or 4.15 points to trade at 233.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 0.44% or 0.10 points to end at 21.83 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 0.37% or 0.45 points to 121.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which fell 2.53% or 1.31 points to trade at 50.57 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) declined 2.52% or 1.32 points to end at 50.96 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) was down 2.26% or 1.64 points to 70.82.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which rose 3.19% to 30.590, Gemalto (AS:GTO) which was up 2.23% to settle at 56.01 and Altran Technologies (PA:ALTT) which gained 1.81% to close at 16.290.
The worst performers were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 2.62% to 29.96 in late trade, Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which lost 2.53% to settle at 50.57 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) which was down 2.52% to 50.96 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 352 to 274 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.37% or 0.45 to 121.20. Shares in Altran Technologies (PA:ALTT) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.81% or 0.290 to 16.290.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 23.92% to 14.40 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.06% or 0.71 to $1227.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.76% or 0.35 to hit $45.87 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.44 to trade at $48.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.0926, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8449.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 99.00.
