Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.71%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 0.94% or 0.66 points to trade at 70.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) added 0.64% or 0.24 points to end at 38.40 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 0.26% or 0.30 points to 114.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale (PA:SOGN), which fell 2.60% or 1.24 points to trade at 46.31 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) declined 1.94% or 1.21 points to end at 61.22 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was down 1.83% or 1.14 points to 61.29.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which rose 11.76% to 32.970, Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which was up 1.41% to settle at 22.935 and GTT (PA:GTT) which gained 1.29% to close at 35.70.
The worst performers were Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which was down 7.40% to 58.48 in late trade, Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) which lost 2.60% to settle at 46.31 and Rexel (PA:RXL) which was down 2.41% to 16.61 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 334 to 272 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Safran SA (PA:SAF) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.94% or 0.66 to 70.69.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 9.72% to 18.35 a new 3-months high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 3.45 to $1254.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.61% or 0.31 to hit $50.29 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.36 to trade at $53.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.0657, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8539.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 100.47.
