Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Gas & Water, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.65%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.60%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which rose 2.95% or 1.25 points to trade at 43.41 at the close. Meanwhile, Valeo SA (PARIS:VLOF) added 1.66% or 2.00 points to end at 122.75 and Safran SA (PARIS:SAF) was up 1.56% or 1.05 points to 68.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which fell 3.84% or 0.18 points to trade at 4.48 at the close. Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) declined 3.39% or 0.49 points to end at 13.95 and Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP) was down 2.47% or 3.60 points to 142.40.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which rose 5.26% to 8.33, Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which was up 4.95% to settle at 3.48 and Edenred (PARIS:EDEN) which gained 3.80% to close at 15.15.
The worst performers were Neopost (PARIS:NPOS) which was down 13.29% to 20.18 in late trade, Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which lost 5.01% to settle at 39.210 and Montupet SA (PARIS:MNTP) which was down 4.13% to 50.380 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 392 to 316 and 59 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.84% or 0.18 to 4.48. Shares in Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) fell to all time lows; falling 3.39% or 0.49 to 13.95. Shares in Neopost (PARIS:NPOS) fell to 5-year lows; falling 13.29% or 3.10 to 20.18.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.50% to 30.56.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.08% or 0.90 to $1114.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.16% or 0.07 to hit $45.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.39 to trade at $47.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1191, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.7383.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 96.23.
