France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 3.37%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 3.37% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index fell 3.64%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF), which rose 0.86% or 2.20 points to trade at 256.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) fell 0.04% or 0.01 points to end at 13.61 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 0.17% or 0.25 points to 145.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 7.28% or 2.63 points to trade at 33.49 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 7.36% or 1.68 points to end at 21.07 and Atos SE (PA:ATOS) was down 6.83% or 4.28 points to 58.34.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) which rose 0.86% to 256.90, Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was up 0.46% to settle at 130.10 and Iliad (PA:ILD) which gained 0.27% to close at 165.00.

The worst performers were Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was down 13.94% to 100.60 in late trade, Groupe FNAC (PA:FNAC) which lost 13.52% to settle at 32.38 and Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which was down 10.60% to 69.15 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 558 to 49 and 45 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 14.06% to 35.16 a new 3-months high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.51% or 28.80 to $1883.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 5.10% or 2.02 to hit $37.55 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 4.35% or 1.81 to trade at $39.80 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1750, while EUR/GBP rose 0.00% to 0.9042.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 93.433.
