Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 3.34% to hit a new 52-week low, while the SBF 120 index lost 3.30%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (EPA:ORAN), which rose 0.17% or 0.02 points to trade at 11.93 at the close. Meanwhile, Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) fell 0.56% or 0.16 points to end at 28.58 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) was down 0.77% or 0.22 points to 28.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which fell 6.89% or 6.42 points to trade at 86.76 at the close. Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) declined 5.42% or 9.00 points to end at 156.92 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) was down 5.38% or 0.44 points to 7.78.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which rose 2.70% to 6.59, Metropole Television SA (EPA:MMTP) which was up 0.62% to settle at 13.06 and Television Francaise 1 SA (EPA:TFFP) which gained 0.30% to close at 8.36.
The worst performers were Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which was down 9.65% to 48.50 in late trade, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which lost 8.48% to settle at 40.93 and Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was down 7.90% to 6.81 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 391 to 110 and 60 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.42% or 9.00 to 156.92. Shares in Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.38% or 0.44 to 7.78. Shares in Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.48% or 3.79 to 40.93. Shares in Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.90% or 0.58 to 6.81.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.71% or 110.85 to $3,101.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.63% or 2.16 to hit $57.42 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 3.44% or 2.16 to trade at $60.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.68% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 102.12.
